History

A solid partner for over 110 years

Haitsma Beton was founded by the Haitsma family over one hundred and ten years ago. Jurjen Haitsma founded Haitsma Beton in Harlingen, the Netherlands, on 1 September 1905. He started with the manufacture of concrete tiles. Soon after, he started producing other concrete products as well. As from 1920, Haitsma covered the entire trade of building materials and started specialising in large-sized projects. In 1930, a new corporate building was moved into, with an office, a warehouse, and a joinery. Haitsma was one of the first to use a concrete supporting structure during the construction of their corporate building. The company grew and grew. Larger premises were needed and in the late nineteen sixties, the production location in Kootstertille, the Netherlands, was opened. Here, prestressed driven piles and, later, precast concrete elements were manufactured.

Total supplier

During the years that followed, Haitsma Beton developed into a total supplier of concrete products. The history of Haitsma Beton is characterised by three leitmotivs: concrete, innovative entrepreneurship, and diversification. This was the case from the very first concrete tile. And it is no different today. Thanks to the experience we gained in the past, we were able to take our innovations to the next level. With precast concrete, Haitsma Beton has contributed to numerous structures. Invisibly, at first, starting with driven piles in foundations. But we also manufacture structures that are visible, such as stepped elements in stands, beams for office buildings, columns for stadiums, and TT plates in parking garages. In addition, we perform other works for non-residential purposes and infrastructure. Examples of the latter are barriers and bridge beams. We apply our full expertise and experience in all these works, making them reliable as well as innovative.
